The club owes its existence to carving evening classes run by Les Jewel, a brilliant carver and teacher. He gave up the classes when, in his 80s, he tired of the growing paperwork. A few of the class members carried on meeting informally and in February 2004 Exeter Woodcarvers was formed.
Throughout the year we attend various events and shows around Exeter to demonstrate and promote our hobby. If you would like to come along and meet us please check our calendar for an event near you.
Exeter Woodcarvers is a group of men and women from around Devon who meet each Tuesday evening in the Deepway Centre to carve wood in a sociable atmosphere. The Club was formed in Exeter in 2004 but since moved our regular meeting venue to Exminster.
It is the love of wood that brings us together more than our expertise in carving.
We welcome new members of all abilities. We have everything you need to get started : benches, wood, chisels and friendly help. We’re not a “teaching club” but we aim to help when you need it.
If you would like to know more, why not check our on-line calendar for a meeting you could come along to.
